This was our last GNC race of the year. It had been just over a month since our last race (Springfield), and boy was I ready to get out to the west coast and race. The plan was to go to Eddie Mulder’s last two races at Willow Springs to help support his series and two of my local sponsors, Digger Helm and Rod Lake. I ended up having some bad luck at Willow Springs to say the least. I crashed my Harley and broke my scaphoid bone. And I guess this is no bone to mess around with from what everyone tells me. So I did a little research and they are right about it being a possible career ending break if I just blew it off. To make a long story short, I went to see Dr. Tanner every day the following week. I did ride the last Grand National race at Pomona, but it was with a broken wrist. I ended up qualifying 16th overall and surprisingly, my wrist wasn't in any pain until later on in the night when the track became a ‘tamed down supercross track’. I unfortunately crashed in my heat and smashed my foot tremendously. I rode the rest of the heat race and didn't finish too well as I was in the back of the pack. I ended up changing the bars out and making some slight changes knowing I only had one more chance to make the main event. I had an okay start from the back row in my semi and I rode my heart out but fell short of qualifying for the main event. I finished 4th, missing the transfer spot by one.
After I got home from the weekend (Sunday night after the AMA Banquet) I had my surgery all lined up for Monday morning and made time to get my foot X-Rayed. The results revealed a broken a bone in my foot call metatarsal. I broke the 3rd one over. Needless to say October was rough on me but I am doing well healing up and should be back at it in the second week in December. I will keep everyone posted and thank you again for the great support for my 2009 season.
